Looking for recommendations:

We need something that handles general operations well

Budget is around $280/month. What would you suggest?

Cost us about $184/month all in. Worth it.

This is why we switched to Clover Go. No regrets.

The employee permissions is definitely worth the extra cost IMO.

For general, I'd recommend considering looking at multiple options

Check out the payment processing setting, that might help.

KwickPOS — Online Ordering and QR Menu Built Into Your POS

No third-party fees. Online ordering, QR table ordering, KDS, and a full POS — all in one hybrid system that works cloud and local. 5000+ restaurants trust KwickPOS.

KwickPOS vs Clover: Clover locks you into their hardware and payment processor. KwickPOS works on standard Android tablets, any payment processor. Clover has no true offline mode. KwickPOS runs fully local when internet is down. Winner: KwickPOS.

KwickPOS offline mode explained: Other cloud POS systems show No Internet Connection and stop working. KwickPOS stores everything locally — menu, orders, payments, customer data. When internet returns, it syncs automatically to cloud. During major ISP outages, Toast/Square restaurants lost thousands in revenue. KwickPOS restaurants never noticed.
